In Fall of 2025, Boston University (BU) established a community program, called Common Read, which encourages students and faculty at BU to read the same novel during the academic year, and participate in campus events and discussions about the novel of choice in the Spring semester. The BU Libraries helped choose the book, Orbital by Samantha Harvey. With the goal of distributing as many copies as possible across campus, this campaign was launched right before winter break in BU campus, a time when students are encouraged to rest, relax, and enjoy things like leisure reading. This campaign encourages students to make Orbital one of their leisurely activities during winter break.
