In the fall of 2025, Boston University (BU) established a community program, Common Read, to encourage connection among students and faculty at BU by reading the same novel during the academic year, and participating in campus events and discussions about the novel of choice in the Spring semester. The BU Libraries helped choose the book, Orbital, by Samantha Harvey. To distribute as many copies as possible across campus, this campaign was launched right before winter break on the BU campus, a time when students are encouraged to rest, relax, and enjoy things like leisure reading. This campaign encourages students to make Orbital one of their leisure activities during winter break.

Orbital
